Our last real vacation was in 2019, 14 days of Bali.
We were then in Tulamben, at Matahari Dive Resort. The owner Ni Komang Suci really makes sure everyone has a good time at this cozy little resort.
She herself is always visibly present, her staff tremendously friendly and even when diving, everything is done to perfection.
Because Suci has been a restaurant chef herself, the food there is also very good, and you can get from authentic Balinese to various world dishes. And it is tremendously affordable there.
The rooms are very clean, well cared for and absolutely worthy of the 3-star designation.
On the doorstep are some of Bali’s finest dive sites, such as the Drop-Off and, of course, the USS Liberty.
In front of the wreck, which lies between 5 and 34 meters is so beautifully overgrown and equipped with all kinds of passages that you can easily make 30 dives on it without getting bored.
Bumphead Parrotfish, barracuda, Napoleon and many other fish can be seen there. There is also shallowly a large plain with a huge load of Garden Eels, very nice to hang out there very carefully and take pictures.
But North Bali is also a nice base for the different areas, from Amed, Bondalem and Padang Bai, to even the Mant’s on Nusa Penida.
We are going again in a good 100 days! Good friends along and then we’ll have a super vacation planned!
