Have started shooting up nicely, 3 more weeks and then we will fly out for a nice vacation to the beautiful island, Bali.
Like past times, we will stay with Suci, at the small but cozy resort Matahari Tulamben.
Located on the north coast, just about right under Mount Agung, by the sea, about 150 meters from the world-famous wreck the USS Liberty.
In addition to the beautiful wreck, there are several dive sites right on your doorstep including the sculpture garden, the Drop-Off and the 6 sites you can only reach by boat. These are extra nice because most people only come here for a day and then only stay at the door.
Several attempts have been made to grow coral on one of these cuttings, and the nice thing is that white- and black-tips can often be found there. Napoleon can also often be found there, and during the day you can regularly see sailfish, marlin and tuna.
I even got to watch 2 an Oceanic Whitetip on patrol there.
Furthermore, there are other sites like Seraya and Emerald a little further on. Here the ground is suddenly no longer volcanic but sandy. Seahorses, sea snakes and lots of little snails, so you really do have fun.
A little further on is Amed, with the terribly beautiful Japanese wreck. This is an old wreck (no idea if it is really a Japanese boat) at a depth of 4 to 12 meters. In full sunlight, the wreck looks really nice, but you’ll have to think about whether to do macro or wide angle, because there are also snails and pygmy seahorses. So I want to go there 2x this time 🙂
Even further south you then come to Padang Bai. Extremely many tourists because the boat to Nusa Penida leaves there. So also the starting point of the trip to Manta Point. Been there last time and on the 2nd dive there were as many as 6 manta rays around us. But because of the crowds, the camera and especially my clumsiness, those weren’t super photos, but nice memories!
This time we are going with friends of ours, Rob and Conny, and we have a nice 19 days of diving, eating and partying!
Normally I put some pictures in the album of the day but this time they are here below the text. From Bali I will post a photo of the day every day, I’ll figure out the rest when we get back home!
Are you enjoying the anticipation right now?
