Course?
Absolutely!
If we go back in time, I started out with a box camera.
From there, I moved on from a cassette camera to the Praktica MTL-3.
A beautiful SLR camera—mechanical and analog.
Since 2017, I’ve also been working with digital photography and have grown tremendously in terms of technical skills.
Now I’m using the OM1 Mark 2 and various pro lenses so I can deliver truly high-quality results.
What energizes me is helping other photographers get started.
Explaining aperture, shutter speed, and ISO is, of course, the most important foundation of every photo.
And once you understand that, you can move on to techniques—understanding the camera, but also what to keep in mind for special assignments like night photography, lightning, stars, airplanes, and birds.
As a nature photographer working both above and below water, I’ve gained the necessary knowledge that I’d love to share.
To help other photographers, I want to put together a course offering.
- Basics for (new) photographers
(ISO, shutter speed, aperture, camera settings)
This naturally includes an explanation of what the available lenses are capable of and how to use them for different purposes.
This course consists of one half-day session lasting approximately 4 hours. The cost is €65 (including coffee/tea). - Specializations:
* Thunderstorm photography (provided the forecasts are good, of course). This course can be held in Purmerend or on location and costs €65.
* Night photography (stars, meteors, contrails). Provided conditions are favorable, this course can be held at various locations. Cost: €65
* Birds of prey: if there are enough participants, this course can be held at one of the well-known bird-of-prey farms, where they have the most beautiful birds. For instruction on how to take these photos, there is an additional fee of €25 per participant.
* Macro photography. This can be taught at various locations. Think, for example, of sundew or mushrooms. The technical aspects in particular can be covered, such as flash techniques and the like. Cost: €65 per half-day.
* Dogs. If you have a dog of your own, that’s great! Otherwise, we’ll have to meet at a place where there are lots of dogs—like a dog beach, for example. This one is also €65
* Nature photography. Just go for a nice walk somewhere and see what we come across. How do you handle the different conditions out in the field!
Some are easy to organize, while others—like thunderstorms—are always a bit trickier; the weather has to cooperate.
In these courses, I’ll take all the time needed and, most importantly, work with no more than two participants.
There are several locations where we can hold these courses, from the Afsluitdijk to the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen.
Or anywhere else you’d like to meet.
I’m certainly not asking for a fortune; it’s really just a matter of time and travel expenses.
Do you have any questions? Send us an email or give us a call, and we’ll figure it out together!
For some examples, take a look here for birds of prey or here to see what you can spot on a lovely 4-hour loop hike in the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen.
